Welcome

Breen Oakwood, by Glenshesk in North Antrim, is just a tiny fragment of the once extensive & diverse woodland which covered this land & this Sessile Oakwood, with its under storey of Hazel, is a quite magical place, full of wonderful plant & animal life. The name of the wood means "Fairy Palace" in Gaelic & it is believed that this is why this wood was spared, when all the woodland around was destroyed. I have been watching birds all my life, so I'm very fortunate to have this national treasure close by. As I learn the art of wildlife photography, this blog gives me an opportunity to share the images of the wildlife I find in Breen.
